Tubing management

Access to this add-on

This add-on is only available after activation. Please contact us for more information.

This add-on allows you to create a 3D fluidpath within your factory digital twin.

With this tool, you can

  • visualize all the connections on a piece of equipment
  • simulate single-use connections between your equipment
  • estimate the maximum length of tubings you need for your processes

Starting up

Open the “Tubing Management Add-on” and select a piece of equipment.

How to access Tubing Management

Editing a piece of equipment

Outlets and inlets connections points are defined by default on a piece of equipment by an administrator.

If you want to adjust the configuration simply add, edit or suppress these connections through the isolated mode. For that, select a piece of equipment and click on the “Edit IN/OUT” button. Drag and drop the connectors on the equipment.

Tips

As it is an isolated mode the other buttons are deactivated so use your mouse or your pad to move the object.

Creating a tubing

Select the outlet on a piece of equipment, hold “CTRL” on your keyboard then select the inlet on the second equipment. Click on the “Connect” button of the add-on.

Tips

Click once to select the connectors.

Exception

You cannot create a connection between the same type of connectors (inlet to inlet or outlet to outlet).

Editing a tubing

Edit the tubing informations : choose a  tubing category and tubing type (material and Internal Diameter), add a name to your tubing and even a description.

A category will serve to gather the similar tubings configuration.

Adding a transfer set to a tubing

A transfer set is a document gathering all the tubing informations with the associated consumables. You can add them by selecting a default transfer set or by adding a custom transfer set. Click on the “eye” icon to see the document. Once added, you can find transfer sets in the project’s report linked to a piece of equipment.

Adjusting a tubing design

Double-click on the tubing to create anchor points. Move the anchor points along the XYZ axis or enter the desired height on the dedicated field.  Your tubing will then be more realistic.

Creating junction points

Select an anchor point, hold “CTRL” on your keyboard then select an inlet or outlet connection. Click on the “Connect” button to create a new segment. You can also edit the junction information such as height, name, description.

You can also choose the type of junction you want to represent between X, Y and T junctions.

Deleting a tubing or a segment

You can delete a tubing or a segment. Simply click on it and click on the trash icon on the add-on panel.

What is a tubing's segment ?

A tubing’s segment is a portion of tubing between an outlet/inlet and a junction point or between two junction points.

Exception

You cannot delete a segment between two junction points.

Estimating your tubing’s length

Once your tubings are edited, you may see their length directly on them. The dimensions are also displayed on the add-on panel.

You can specify the maximum length of the tubings that cannot be outreached. Click on the “pen” icon and then enter the maximum value.

When editing the tubing or moving the equipment you will notice a warning if you outreach the maximum tubing length.

Tubing management visualisation

Once you have edited your project with the tubings you can also visualize them by entering the FPV mode.

Before clicking on the FPV button, check that the tubings are activated. They must be visible in the 3D view. To hide and show the tubings simply click on the “eye” icon on the right side of the add-on panel.
