Draw your 3D layout

After importing your 2D plan, use the Solution Builder’s intuitive tools to draw your 3D layout. You can add walls, doors, windows, and other building elements to accurately represent your facility’s layout in three dimensions. First, let’s see how to create your rooms with two specific tools available into the tab “Rooms”:

  1. Quick shape
  2. Manual shape

Quick Shape

Need to create a square room? Just drag and drop the Quick Shape onto the grid, define the room name, area, and walls’ height. A square shape will automatically appear with the defined name and area.

It’s also possible to resize and change the shape of the rooms while in 2D view, by pushing or pulling the walls and corners.

To add a corner, double-click on a wall.

Manual Shape

For more complex room shapes, use the Manual Shaping tool to design your space.

  1. Just click on the “Pen” icon and start placing your anchor points on the grid by clicking once on the designated place.
  2. Right-angled corners will directly appear as you move your cursor to place the next anchor point.
  3. After placing the last anchor point, close the room you’re creating. Either click on the first anchor point or double-click where you want to place your last anchor point. There you have it, a brand new room!

Tips to edit faster

Here an another method to draw your facility layout:

Changing a room’s position

To change a room’s position, including rotation, follow these steps:

  1. Double-click on the room.
  2. A small panel will appear, providing options such as ‘Rotate’, ‘Flip-horizontally’, or ‘Flip-vertically.’
  3. Select the desired option to adjust the room’s orientation.

Customize your 3D layout

After creating your 3D layout, it’s time to add elements like doors, windows, and equipment to simulate your facility’s workflow systems. Let’s see how you can easily incorporate these elements from the “Utilities” and “Equipment” tabs.

  1. To get started, choose an item from the menu, like a blue door that’s 93 cm wide. Click and hold the left mouse button on the door icon in the menu.
  2. While holding the button, move the door to where you want it on the wall in your 3D layout. You’ll see the door follow your cursor’s movement.
  3. When you’ve placed the door where you want it, release the mouse button. This locks the door in place, keeping it fixed in your digital twin project.
  4. If you need to make changes to your layout, double-click the door. This allows you to move it to a new location in the 3D space. Simply hold the mouse button and drag the door as needed.

By following these steps, you can easily customize your 3D layout by adding doors, windows, and equipment. The Solution Builder’s drag-and-drop feature gives you full control over placing and modifying these components, ensuring your digital twin accurately represents your facility’s configuration and workflow systems.
