Cast Your HakoBio VR Experience from Meta Quest Headsets

Sharing your HakoBio VR session with colleagues or trainees can be done easily by casting what you see in your Meta Quest headset to a mobile device, computer, or through the Link app. This is ideal for demonstrations, training, or collaborative review of VR content.

Before You Start

  • Ensure your headset and the device you want to cast to (phone or computer) are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Make sure both devices are signed into the same Meta account. You can cast from either a primary or secondary account.
  • If using the Meta Quest Link app, confirm your headset is connected to the app on your computer.

Casting to a Computer via Browser

  1. Open a browser on your computer and go to oculus.com/casting. Log in with the same Meta account used on your headset.
  2. On your headset, press the Meta button on the right joystick, go to Quick Settings, and select Cast.
    • For older models (e.g. Quest 2), you will press the Oculus button – this is located in the same place as the Meta button on the right joystick
  3. Choose Internet, then select your computer from the list and follow the prompts.

To stop casting, open Quick Settings and select Stop Casting.

Casting to a Mobile Device

  1. Open the HakoBio VR app on your Meta Quest headset.
  2. Press the Meta button (or Oculus button) on your right controller to open the universal menu.
  3. Navigate to Quick Settings.
  4. Select Cast, then choose Mobile or a nearby device from the list.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to start casting.

To stop casting, return to Quick Settings, select Cast, and then tap Stop Casting.

  1. Open the Meta Quest Link app on your computer.
  2. Locate your headset under Devices and click Start Casting.
  3. A window will display your VR view from the headset.

Click Stop Casting when finished.

Casting via Meta Horizon App (Mobile)

  1. Open the Meta Horizon app on your phone.
  2. Tap the menu icon and select Devices.
  3. Find your Meta Quest headset in the list of available devices.
  4. Tap Cast and follow the on-screen instructions.

Stopping the Cast:

  • Tap the casting view on your phone, then select Stop Casting.
  • Closing the app or opening another app on your phone will also end the session.

Important Note on Streaming Quality

The live stream to your phone or computer does not fully replicate the immersive experience inside the VR headset.

Inside the headset, you benefit from higher 3D quality, a wider field of view, and zero lag, while the stream may have reduced resolution or experience minor delays due to internet transmission.

The VR experience within the headset is quite simply richer and more responsive. When presenting to colleagues, clients, or external stakeholders, it’s important to highlight this if there are concerns about the stream’s visual quality.

For optimal image quality, you can consider pre-recording your VR session and sharing the video, rather than relying solely on live streaming.

Tips for a Smooth Casting Experience

  • Keep all devices on the same Wi-Fi network and frequency band.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone if casting to a mobile device.
  • Close unnecessary apps or browser tabs to minimize network interruptions.
  • Casting increases battery usage, so ensure your headset and controllers are fully charged before starting, or keep a charger nearby for longer sessions.
  • If issues occur, restart your headset or the casting device and try again.
